There are seafood restaurants and, then there is "The Fish Peddler" in Bay City, Oregon. It's located about five and half miles north of Tillamook and four and half miles south of Garibaldi.
Actually, there are two Fish Peddler restaurants...with one being in Newport. But, I'm only going to talk about the one in Bay City since I haven't eaten at the one in Newport.
The Fish Peddler is part of the "Pacific Oyster Company" in Bay City. It is located on a spit, on Tillamook Bay, right off of Highway 101. You have to look for it or you can easily miss it!
I have written about "Griff's On The Dock" in Port Orford, Oregon and I thought it had the best seafood on the Oregon Coast. But, but, but, I have to rate The Fish Peddler (link) a few notches above.
It is located in a rather large building which houses both the restaurant and the processing plant for the Pacific Oyster Company.
It is not the fanciest restaurant in the world. If you are looking for ambiance...this ain't it, but it's nice, it's clean and it's comfortable.. If you are looking for the finest seafood on the Oregon Coast (maybe a whole bunch of coasts) you need not look further.
Their emphasis is on oysters. Well, golly gee, they harvest and process oysters! And, they serve them in a variety ways in the restaurant...half shell, Po Boys, you name it. However, they serve a very impressive and excellent selection of other seafood.
The first time my wife and I went there I had a Oyster Po Boy and, my wife Clam Chowder and a Crab Louie. I am a big eater and had to fight bigtime to finish my sandwich.
A good analogy is, I ordered a Lobster Po Boy in Boston...with more mayo and lettuce than lobster, I had to pay five more bucks for it. And, it wasn't the quarter of the size or a fresh as the one at The Fish Peddler.
The second time we went there, my wife had the Shrimp Sandwich and I ordered the Fisherman's Platter. Both were substantial in size, very fairly priced and, did I say "delicious".
The first photo is obviously the restaurant, the second a bit of the processing plant, the third.. just the dinner or side salad that came with my "Fisherman's Platter". The fourth pic is my platter. And, the rest is random shots from taken from the restaurant.
