Unless you live in the Metro Area, you maybe pleasantly surprised with the selection of cool places to hike that are close to Portland, Oregon.
For one, look into Oxbow Park with its twelve miles of trails. It's a tad east of Portland proper and is located in the Sandy River Gorge with a Gresham, Oregon address. It sits on one thousand acres which also includes camping.
My wife and I haven't hiked all 12 miles but we have hiked quite a ways along one of the Sandy River trails. It was an absolutely gorgeous hike!
