Iris Flowers To Enjoy

My wife and I have visited Schreiner's Iris Gardens in Salem, Oregon well over a span of thirty years.

When we first visited years ago, it seemed like it was a small operation however, when the Irises were in bloom it was always packed with folks wanting bouquets and bulbs.

Over the years, it has grown into a huge and first-class outlet for some of the most beautiful Iris gardens on earth. And, not just Irises, but a multitude of other plants and flowers...like the the Allium plants in the second photo.

Here are some recommended books on Irises that are on Amazon. If you purchase one of the books I receive a small commission. It keeps the blog going! Thank you for your support!

1) The Iris Family: Natural History and Classification (Irises and their relatives are lily-like plants related to the orchid and narcissus families, with whom they share a propensity for large, brightly colored, attractive flowers)

2) The Gardener's Iris Book (Whether the reader is new to irises or has loved them for decades, this is the most complete and useful book)

3) Iris : Flower of the Rainbow (Quote: absolutely the best book I've seem on iris. The book is well laid out and very informative. Grosvenor is a leading authority on iris and comprehensively explains each genus as a group as to characteristics, culture and breeding.
