The
Silver Creek Falls Park is the "grandaddy" of all the State Parks in Oregon. It's some 9000 acres and comprises of world-class ten water falls, hiking, camping, picnicking, biking, equestrian, nature observing and just plain relaxing...and, did I say a cool place to take the puppy.
The Park has a history second to none going back before the Park was even conceived.
The first photo here is of a structure built in the Depression Era by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) as well a most of the structures, walking paths that are in the Park.
The third photo is the South Falls. If you don't think it's big look for the people at about the half way mark. It will put some perspective on it.
The fourth photo is a cougar (stuffed) that is on display in the main lodge. Yes, there are bears and cougars.
An interesting book is
Grant's Getaways II (link to Amazon). It has a nice section on the Park and some great photography. A must guide for Oregonians and tourist alike...check it out!
