Gerdemann Botanical Preserve

There is a little known botanical garden in Yachats, Oregon that is just a jewel...The "Gerdemann Botanical Preserve".  It is a rain forest on three and a half acres and well worth your visit.

It is on private property but open for the public to enjoy.  And, as far as I can tell it is not a place that is real publicized or, even known about.

It is behind some art galleries on 101 in Yachats. And, I am betting they frown on folks parking on their lot who have no intention of visiting their galleries.

So, park somewhere else and walk into it from in back of the galleries.

First thing that caught our eyes were large leaf species rhododendrons.  And, yes, we missed the blooms by probably two weeks. However, the leaves themselves are impressive...like up to two feet long. There were very few other flowers in bloom at this time but it is a neat and unusual place and a great walk.
