Ocean To Bay Trail Newport Oregon

A little known hike/walk in Newport, Oregon is the "Ocean to Bay Trail". The trail starts at the "Agate Beach Wayside" (the ocean part, north end of Newport) and was originally scheduled to end up at the south end of Newport at Yaquina Bay.

However, the entire trail, as of now, to the Bay hasn't developed yet. There is only about three quarters of a mile of trail and it ends.

What is developed, though is nothing but beautiful and serene...a cool rainforest, wetland combo.

Many bridges/boardwalks take you over the wetlands...there is an abundance of skunk cabbage, wild buttercups, horse tail, Queen Anne and wild foxgloves to take in.

To make a real hike out of it, at the end of the trail, you can take off to the left and walk up to the upper Big Creek reservoir...mostly uphill. Or, take a right and walk on Big Creek Road to the swimming pool and, even to the Bay if you don't mind walking through neighborhoods.
