Since I live on the Oregon Coast in Newport, it is easy to go out and photograph boats of all types. Since Newport has the largest fishing fleet on the Oregon Coast, there are a lot to choose from.
And, not to forget about sailboats...there are also many of them scattered in the various marinas in the area.
The first and last photos here were taken on the Yaquina River where both boats reside in a small marina. I shot both of these with my Canon Point and Shoot and converted them to High Dynamic Range.
The second, third and fourth photos were shot in Yaquina Bay and, are all fishing boats. Captured on a foggy, drizzly day early in the morning. I used my Pentax DSLR.
The fifth and sixth photos are of sailboats, a few fishing boats and the yacht variety.
