Woolen Mill Art

The is the old Thomas Kay Woolen Mill  ( Mission Mills) in Salem, Oregon. It is an historic textile mill that goes back to 1898.

The mill has long ceased production. However, this is a display they had setup for tours of the mill.

Luckily, I was able to capture this scene when I did. Since, the machinery has been taken out and the whole area has been converted into a meeting room.

Such is life! The woolen mill produced fine wool blankets and fabrics for 70 years. The mill transformed raw Willamette Valley wool into fabric and blankets which were well known throughout the West. It was the only woolen mill museum west of Missouri.

The image has been converted to a digital painting that I hope you enjoy. If you would like to explore this image, or others, please see links below!

Kite Fun

A must event to attend is the Summer Lincoln City Kite Festival on the Oregon Coast. Hey, it's "kite fun" at its very best!

People from the Willamette Valley, meaning Portland Area, Salem and, really all over ,come to check out the cool kites for a couple of fun days. Basically, the big boys and girls are out there showing off their kites and kite flying skills.

The beach is absolutely packed with kite enthusiasts. Many are packing a picnic. Many are checking out the kites, up close and personal.

However, everybody is having a ball like they should be! There is a link below the image if you would like to purchase a print.

Ponzi Vineyard In Oregon Wine Country

The Ponzi Vineyard has a Beaverton, Oregon address and that kind of makes you think that is is located in a metropolitan area. It is not.

It is located in a beautiful rural area, sort of on the borderline of Beaverton.  It's a first-class winery with fantastic facilities, including a wine tasting room and event areas. Founded in 1970, they are internationally acclaimed for producing some of the world's finest Pinots.

There are some 200 wineries in Oregon and Ponzi is right there among the top in the Willamette Valley.  Pay them a visit...they're nice folks!
