Everybody has a version of what a cool town is. For me, McMinnville, Oregon fits right into that category and, right along with some of Oregon's cool beach towns like Bandon.
My requirements for "Cool" are:
1) Something to see
2) Something to do
3) Great food at reasonable prices (Something other than junk food and, food that is maybe gourmet and unusual)
4) Free parking (No parking meters. No one puts a parking ticket on your windshield before you get the chance to get out of your car and feed the meter)
5) Shade trees that line Main Street during hot summer months
6) Cool wine bars
7) Cool hotels like "Hotel Oregon" which is right in the heart of downtown
8) Cool gift shops that aren't a "rip" and sell unusual things other than dumb souvenirs
9) Friendly people
10) A place to retire to someday that you can afford
Did I mention that McMinnville is right in the heart of Oregon's Wine Country and is also a short drive to the beach?
