Some
photos from the “Historic Home Tour “ In Dayton, Oregon on August
17, 2013.
Dayton
was founded in 1850 and has quite a history. It's between McMinnville
and Newberg and is a little over fifty miles from the Oregon Coast.
The first home on the self- guided walking tour was the Joel Palmer House which has been turned into a restaurant. Maybe a photo in a future post.
I
am including a real variety of photos both historic and the present...stay tuned for more posts.
The first photo here is the back of one of the historic homes on the tour. The house, the gardens pristine!
The second is, an vintage automobile parked in front of one of the historic homes on the tour.
The third photo is an art piece (with permission) composed by one of the home owners on the tour. The fourth, the gazebo in the City Park. And, finally an historic photo of a gentleman and his celery displayed at the First Baptist Church.
Did I mention that the tour included free ice cream cones and wine tasting? What a nice touch by a bunch of nice folks.
And, I will mention that when you go on a tour like this in the big city...the homes are not going to be cooler, the folks are not going to be more hospitable, there probably won't be free ice cream cones and wine tasting. And, it will cost you at least twice as much...maybe three.
