This is the second post featuring Bandon on the Southern Oregon Coast. A few years ago the town was known for "Bandon Cheese". Unfortunately, for the town of Bandon the factory was bought out by Tillamook Cheese and transferred out of town.
The brand still exists...but it ain't made in Bandon!
Comes a resurrection! There's a new guy in town and it is called "
Face Rock Creamery". No relation to "Bandon Cheese".
Having taken a tour of the new facility...which is in the same spot as the old Bandon factory, I can tell you the cheese that I got to sample was simply superb! And, ended up buying a package of curds and a couple of loaves.
The new place is modern, extremely clean and well laid out and, they feature wines and products other than just cheese. You just have to visit!
The name "Face Rock" is an outcropping on one of the beaches in Bandon and is named after an American Indian Legend. It is a landmark in Bandon and is well photographed. My photo of it is at the end of this post and was taken on an earlier visit during a storm. The rock itself had a definite slant to it and looks like a face when seen from a certain angle.
