Bay Street Art

It's early in the morning and the shops, galleries and restaurants are not quite open yet on the Bay Front in Newport, Oregon on the Central Oregon Coast.

It has rained the night before and the street hasn't quite tried out yet.

The scene is tranquil this early in the morning but, that will change because spring break has just sprung and there will be a multitude of tourist ready to invade the Bay Front in a matter of a couple of hours.

You can purchase this image in a variety of ways, wall art, life style, apparel, greeting cards, home decor, phone cases, beach. please see the link below this image and /or the slide shows below and, on the left side bar!

The Flowers Along The Fence

Beautiful flowers and artichokes are placed playfully up against a rustic fence. Pick the artichokes and make a dip. Gather the flowers and make a bouquet!

The setting is on the Central Oregon Coast. Each year a flower and garden show is featured in different locations up and down the coast.

This particular show, where the below image was captured is just north of Waldport. It is called the Secret Garden Tour.

The event is a fundraiser for Samaritan House Homeless Family Shelter...the only homeless family shelter on the Central Oregon coast between Tillamook and Coos Bay. Their mission is an excellent one: to shelter, educate and guide homeless families with children toward independent living!

The image has been converted to a digital painting that I hope you enjoy. If you would like to explore this image, or others, please see links below!

Photos Of Yaquina Head In The Fog

I just happen to live a short distance from the Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area in Newport, Oregon. I can pretty much go there anytime I want and, I do quite often.

Most tourist that visit are interested in the lighthouse and the Visitors Center. However, for people that like to walk/hike there are several great trails to venture on, too. This is the time to get some great shots up high.

The day that these photos were taken, Yaquina Head was pretty well socked in. In the first photo here you can barely make out the lighthouse off to the right.

The second photo is looking down at the black sandy beach. The rest are random shots of the area.

Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area

The Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area is located at the north end of Newport, Oregon on the Central Oregon Coast.

It is run by the BLM and you can gain admittance for a rather nominal fee of $7.00. Better yet, if you are a senior you purchase a "Senior Lifetime Pass" for ten bucks that can be used over and over again at BLM facilities...and, that is a steal!

There are many things to see and do at Yaquina Head. They have an interpretive center which is first-class, there are tours of the Yaquina Head Lighthouse...not to mention visitations and learning experiences about tide pools, marine life, native birds and great hiking trails.

The first four photos were taken in the interpretive center that is well worth visiting...they have great exhibits and have a very knowledgeable and friendly staff.

This first photo is really the back of the movie theater...but makes for a cool shot. The next four photos are just an example of some of the exhibitions. And, experiment: I couldn't resist but twist the pixels of two barrels on display that they use to use to hold oil to light the lamp in the lighthouse.

Hiking around Yaquina Head is a treat. The following three photos were taken while hiking up Communication Hill Trail...a beautiful and scenic trip.

The next two photos look down on the Agate Beach Community.

Newport Mooring

Some random photos of the boat basin, located in South Beach... Newport, Oregon. The Yaquina Bay Bridge is in the background and is one of the most beautiful bridges in Oregon.

Also, it's "A Foggy Day in Newport Town"!

The Rogue Brewery is located in South Beach and is the building off to your left in the first photo. At some later date, I will feature the brewery on my blog...it's cool!

The second photo is the Newport Belle Bed and Breakfast. Currently closed during December and January.

More shots of the Marina and then a couple of shots of the "House of Spirits". A Rogue owned bar that is separate of the main brewery and has a gorgeous view of the bay.

Most of my photography can be purchased through “Fotomoto” (a trusted site) in many different formats and price ranges. Just click one of the links below each photo to see all the options!

Neskowin Oregon

Neskowin, Oregon is a bit north of Lincoln City and is like night and day in comparison. Lincoln City is more of an Oregon Coast tourist attraction and Neskowin is a laid back community.

Almost laid back to a fault!

For years our family had a cabin in Neskowin, built in the 1930's, fairly close to the beach...it has been sold since.

As a family, we still miss the cabin and it's roots. Mainly, it's the setting. There are very few beaches, communities like it on the entire coast.

If you are looking for a laid back vacation, a neat place to stay...this is it! There are no shopping malls, gas stations, huge grocery stores, Home Depots, Walmarts. Too, hopefully, your cell phone, TV and laptop go numb on you.

There is a cool gourmet market where a few bare necessities can be had and a cool cafe.

The name of the market is the "Neskowin Trading Company"...a deli, market and wine shop. This and the "Hawk Creek Cafe" are in the first photo here.

The Hawk Creek Cafe is a must place to eat...the building in the foreground...gourmet pizza and lot's of other delicious entrees.

If you like walking, Neskowin is a "Walker's Paradise". You can walk on the beach or through the residential area and never get tired of the walks...Hey, walk over to the "Hawk Creek Gallery" just across 101 and check out Michael Schlicting's water colors. Years ago we purchased two of his originals..what a great artist.

I took some random shots here and, I left out the famous "Proposal Rock" on purpose.

Siletz River

Over the weekend I was fortunate to get some shots of the Siletz River on the Central Oregon Coast.
Mainly, it's known for great fishing...salmon, steelhead but, I thought why not try some photography.

I ventured up the Siletz River from Highway 101 all the way to the town of Siletz...a rather curvy journey. Stopped along the way and took some shots with my Pentax Dslr.

Golden Hour was missed and I promised myself to go back during the "Golden Hours" to retake things...anyway, here are some shots:

Siletz River
The above photo is looking back at the bridge on 101 that covers the Siletz. Beyond the bridge is the start of Siletz Bay. The second shot is looking south across the river.

The next two photos were taken at Ichwhit (Bear) Park. I was fortunate enough to capture some nice reflections. The last two are ten miles upstream from Ichwhit.
