Things To Do In Vancouver WA Two

This is the second installment of "Things to do in Vancouver, Washington". In general, Vancouver is an extremely cool place to visit.

There is lots to see and do. Most of them are on the "cheap" and a great thing to visit is the Esther Short  Park in Downtown. One of the big features is the "Farmer's Market" which is held normally both Saturday and Sunday, starting in Spring and ending in late Fall.

The first shot is the Bell/Clock Tower in the Park. The rest are of the Farmer's Market.

Things To Do In Vancouver WA

My wife and I live relatively close to Vancouver, Washington and it is always a treat to cross the
Columbia River from Oregon and visit their outstanding town (they have been nationally recognized as most livable).

With my trusty Point and Shoot, my wife and I traveled around town for many miles capturing as many interesting and historical spots as possible.

The first photo here is of a mural in the Downtown area. Pearson Field is historic and home to many a vintage plane. Although, I think it is being moved or closed permanently.

The next two photos are of the House of Providence built in 1873 which is now called the "Academy".

The fourth photo is one of the art pieces in the "Sculpture Garden" that is Downtown.

The fifth and sixth photos are of the most beautiful library you have ever seen. Both shots were taken of walls looking up from the ground floor up to the fourth floor.

Officers Row

If you ever visit Vancouver, Washington a trip to Officers' Row is a must. It consists of some twenty one homes built for Army officers in the 1800's and early 1900's and is part of the famous Vancouver Barracks. And, is part of the "Vancouver National Historic Reserve".

The oldest home (Grant House) is named after Ulysses S. Grant who never lived in the house but was at one time stationed at Vancouver Barracks.

The Army eventually sold the property to the City of Vancouver for a buck and the City turned around and renovated the entire site.

If you want to see historic real estate in its entirety...this is it! It's an absolutely gorgeous place and is worth your time to visit.
