Tides Out!

This is the boardwalk and the Coquille River at low tide in Bandon on the Oregon Coast.  On the boardwalk is an outdoor art gallery that has a beautiful collection of marine life wooden sculptures and, cool artisan benches along the way.

Also, on the boardwalk is a mosaic outdoor amphitheater.  Not to forget, a glass-sided picnic shelter allowing picnicking and river viewing during downpours.

Also, on the boardwalk, is Tony's Crab Shack. It is the blue and reddish colored building with some of the best seafood on the Oregon Coast...think Dungeness Crab! Beyond is the Pacific Ocean. It's not too far away!

South Beach Fish Market

South Beach Fish Market is on Highway 101 in Newport, Oregon. It's a combo seafood market, restaurant and mini-market.

My wife and I decided to go there for lunch. Since my wife and I live in Newport, we can say this is were the locals go to eat.

My wife ordered Halibut Fish and Chips and I ordered the Captain's Platter...$13.50 and $14.50, respectively.

We were both very pleased with our food. It was well prepared and, there was plenty of it.

The food comes in a paper container with plastic forks. This keeps the cost down. Price out a pound of Halibut and you'll know why. Elsewhere, if you wanted a real fork and plate, you would more than likely, get lot less food and pay five bucks more.

If you are looking for ambiance, this ain't it! There are other places that will charge you plenty for that. If you are looking for good seafood at a fair price, this is it.

If you are headed north to Newport, it's on the left hand side before you go across the Yaquina Bay Bridge. It's on the right hand side after you cross the Yaquina Bay Bridge, headed south. How's that for directions?
