Tower Bridge - Sacramento

The Tower Bridge is a lift bridge which crosses the Sacramento River. This particular view is from Old Town Sacramento.

Years ago the bridge was painted with a silver aluminum. There was a lot of glare coming off the bridge and the color was changed to gold in 2002.

The Silver Palace Eating Stand

The Silver Palace Eating Stand is located in Old Sacramento. Their legacy is that they served passengers on the arriving trains in Sacramento way back when.

Now days, their up-to-date menu is Transcontinental stew, Steam Whistle chili, hot and cold sandwiches, burgers, fries, and salads.

Anyway, it is a landmark establishment. A must place to visit when you are in Old Town Sacramento. This image has been converted to a digital Impressionist painting!

Old Town Sacramento

This is the second post featuring "Old Town Sacramento". A must place to visit if you are going to California and, a must place to visit if you are from California.

My photos are random captures of establishments, a bridge...no order whatsoever.  For example, an entry to a inside mall, the Tower Bridge that spans the Sacramento River, some interesting signage, some photos inside the "Sacramento History Museum".

Make sure you read about "Dunlap's Dining Room"...fifth photo down. Sounded like a neat place to go eat in past years. They served the three same entrees from 1930 to 1968 and, there was hardly ever a vacant seat.

Things To Do In Sacramento

Our goal, on a California trip that we took, which started in Newport, Oregon was to end up in Placerville and the Gold Country. On the way we decided to visit Old Sacramento and, we were really glad that we did.

It was raining a tad but we still got out and visited some of the shops and one of the museums.

Old Sacramento is an attraction that really takes you back in time. It is well done.

It's not just a couple of blocks of old buildings...it's blocks and blocks of restored buildings (28 acres), with lots of neat shops, restaurants, railroad buildings, museums and so on to visit.

If you want to get into the history of California this is the place to be! Especially, if you take the time to visit a museum or two.

My photos are very random but I think that you'll kind of get the idea.
