Vintage Airplanes

Spent a day in Hood River, Oregon. A real cool day of photographing in and around local attractions. What a treat!

The highlight of the whole day was the Western Antique Aeroplane and Automotive Museum (WAAAM).  It's located south of town, toward the way to Mt.Hood!

I though that the Tillamook Air Museum was cool...the WAAAM was bigger, more diversified and most certainly rivals many museums of its kind anywhere.

I photographed many vintage planes and autos while I was there. I will start with the Curtis Pusher Vintage Aircraft which Tom Murphy flew off the rooftop of the old Multnomah Hotel rooftop in 1995 in Portland.

The next three photos are of vintage Waco (Pronounced Wah-co, not wayco) aircraft. The company started in 1920. As you can see they produced some cool open cockpit bi-planes.

An Amazon recommended book:

VintageFlyers: A photographic essay of antique and classic aircraft by EricPresten (This is a real nice photo essay on vintage aircraft. A lot of time was spent with the owners to get pix of the airplanes without distracting objects in the background and placed properly with the sunlight.)
