Thompsons Mills State Heritage Site

This now defunct mill is near Shedd, Oregon. It is the oldest existing water-powered grain mill in Oregon. It sits on the Calapooia River.

The original mill was constructed in 1858. In 2004, the Oregon Parks and Recreation bought the mill and opened it to the public.

The mill buildings and Queen Anne style mill keeper's residence are listed in the National Register of Historic Places. The 1904 residence was one of first rural homes in Oregon to have electricity which was supplied by the mill.

This image has been converted to High Dynamic Range (HDR) by combining three different exposures to give the image more detail and color. And, than special effects were incorporated for a unique touch.
