Some random photos of the annual Newport Seafood and Wine Festival...people and then more people.
A event with some 20,000 folks attending, tasting Oregon and Washington wines and, munching on seafood and, of course all other kinds of food. It swells the population of my home town from 10,000 to 30,000 for a couple of days.
That's not bad though, since it brings in a lot of money into Newport which it can always use.
Seafood-wise, if there is a "rip" I would shout out "the crab". If you present a credit card, and after they find out what your credit limit is, they may tell you that you can only afford the shrimp.
The wine tasting is superb with, I think some eighty wineries represented. You walk around with a real wine glass and sample, I hope, within a reasonable limit the wines that appeal to you.
Some of the best deals food-wise were the Newport Fire Departments "Lobster Gumbo". For five bucks you received a generous portion of delicious Gumbo and the money went to a great cause!
Another sleeper food-wise was the Canby Asparagus Farm. People that have attended the Milwaukie, Oregon Sunday Market would know about them. Super great food at a reasonable price.
