Since flowers in Oregon are very seasonal this is very hard to do. But, when they are in bloom, off I go.

Beautiful Flower Gardens

Flowers are coming into fruition in Oregon. It hails one minute...rains one minute...sun shines for one minute and then, back to the beginning.

My wife and I ventured out to Sherwood, Oregon. Kind of a cool place to visit.

Naturally, I had my trusty Canon Point and Shoot with me and couldn't help but to photograph some flowers along the way.

Flower Garden Time Two

Flower Garden Time | Spring is Springing

Spring is here in Oregon and I realize that is not so in other parts of the country and, we feel for you!

Hopefully, we can cheer you up a little with photos of Ranunculus, Tulips, Daffodils, Flowering Quince and Pansies.

In Oregon, it's time to clean out the flower beds and get ready for spring flowers.

Our Flower Gardens Part Four

There seems to be no end to taking pictures of flowers in our yard.  My wife and I have eight different flower gardens.


All are pretty good size.  Plus, we have potted plants, hanging baskets all over. There seems to be no end to the planting, watering and the weeding.



It helps keep everybody young.  We love the rewards...the beauty of it all, until all the flowers die out for the year and we go back to the mundane.

The fist photo is of one of our early dahlias...the rest don't come in until late summer.

Flower Gardens Part Two

Yesterday, I posted Flower Gardens Part One. Today, a few more flowers that can be found in our yard and in hanging baskets.

We have a combination of both perennials and annuals in our flower gardens. You just have to photograph them when they are in bloom.

Flower Gardens Part One

In our yard we have many varieties of plants and flowers, both perennials and annuals.  So, it's been a goal to photograph them as they bloom.

My wife and I have an absolutely huge yard with many segregated flower gardens, both in the front yard and in back.  Plus, there are numerous hanging baskets.

Here are a few pictures of the various flowers that we have and there will be more to come. Here's Part Two.

Spring Flowers in Oregon City | Part Two

Spring Flowers in Oregon City-Camellia

On Sunday, April 15th my wife, puppy and I walked around parts of Oregon City and took photos of different spring flowers...especially Tulips.

You have to do this while you can because it rains in Oregon.  Other than getting your camera and you wet, the rain can beat down the flowers and that's the end of it.

And, tulips don't last all that long, either.  When my wife planted tulips in our yard she spaced the planting out so that they bloom at different times. You can really tell the difference...some have opened up completely and others are closed, or haven't bloomed at all.

The photos here are not just snapshots. I post-process the photos in special software to make them look different. Some will almost look like paintings.

This is one of the coolest bushes that grow in or around our yard. This particular Flowering Quince bush is huge.  My camera was on a tripod extended at it fullest and I still had to shot upwards.

I wish I could tell you that the Quince is ours, but it is not. It grows in our neighbor's yard and comes over out the fence just a tad.

The Quince was shot in High Dynamic Range Photography mode so it may look a little strange..meaning three different exposures were taken of the same thing and merged in special software.

It seems to be an early spring bloomer..same as camellias. The Quince makes an excellent floral arrangement sitting on our coffee table all by itself..well, it grows over our fence and that makes it fair game!

Gee, the sun is shining in Oregon and things are starting to flower in our gardens...there are buds on the dogwoods.  Things are starting to happen outside other than just the rain.

Can't help myself...it was time to take the camera outside and get a few shots.
