Dayton Oregon Historic Places

Back to the "Historic Home Tour" in Dayton, Oregon. Last Saturday, August 17th was a super nice day to visit some of the historic homes in Dayton.

The first home here was built in 1921 and one of the homes close to the start of the tour or, the end, depending on what direction (ha!) you were going.

I couldn't resist photographing the gentleman sitting behind the wheel of this gorgeous vintage Ford. He was sitting there when my wife and I started the tour and, he was sitting there when we finished hours later. It was toasty out too.

The second photo, a historic local photo, one of many on display at the First Baptist Church. The third is the back of one of the historic homes, on the tour that is, not only a gorgeous home, but also has a gorgeous yard and gardens.

And, finally the fourth photo is the carriage house that belongs to the Joel Palmer House (built 1857) which is now a restaurant. OK! Everybody else shoots the front of the house!

I'd be amiss if I forgot to mention the Brown Bag Cafe which was giving folks, that participated in the tour, free ice cream cones. What a nice and generous touch! When you are in Dayton...check them out. Next time we are even the least bit close to them we plan on having lunch there.

Go on a historic home tour in the big city and see if they give you a free ice cream cone or, even a free drink of water.
