South Beach State Park

South Beach State Park sits on almost five hundred acres...it's huge and it's cool! For those that don't know, the Park is located in South Beach, Oregon (Newport) not too far south of the Yaquina Bay Bridge.

It is a nice clean park with RV parking, tent spaces and Yurts. It has direct access to a pristine beach where you can dig in the sand, with you shovel and bucket to your heart's content...walk, surf, relax on the beach or, whatever.

My wife and I walk regularly on the nearby "Old Jetty" trails that are covered with wood chips. However, there are paved trails, too. Also, there are equestrian trails.

Rates for the prime season is basically six bucks for a hiker-biker, $29.00 for electrical hookup and, up to $77 for a group tent per day.

It's close, and almost within walking distance (but, not quite) of the Oregon Coast Aquarium, "Aquarium Village", Mark Hatfield Marine Science Center, NOAA Headquarters and the Rogue Brewery.
