Boomtown Saloon Jacksonville, Oregon!

The "Boomtown Saloon" is in Jacksonville Oregon.  And, Jacksonville has been called One of America Top 10 Coolest Small Towns by Frommers.

But first, a little history. Jacksonville got its start as a gold rush town in 1851. So, now you know how the saloon received its name.

Because of the gold, Jacksonville thrived to become the largest city in Oregon. And, it was at one time, the largest inland port in Oregon.

However, in the 1800s the railroad decided to ditch the town. Things went south, almost into oblivion.

This became a blessing because the historic buildings and homes all remained in tack as they were in the 1800's. Jacksonville has become a National Historic District as a result.

So if you visit, get out of your car and walk around and take in the beauty and historic significance of this cool place! If you would like to explore this image, or others, please see link below image!
