View From The Boardwalk

Not far from Newport on the Central Oregon Coast is Toledo, Oregon!  Yes! It is named after Toledo, Ohio.

You are looking at the Port of Toledo which is located on the Yaquina River. Fall is starting to inch itself in.

Toledo is a mill town, with a major paper mill and lumber mill. And, also major boat repair facilities.

Above all, it is a quaint little town. Not too popular because most of the tourist go to Newport which is only seven miles away on the coast.

But, the tourist that bi-pass Toledo are missing out on a very cool place to visit!

This image has been converted to High Dynamic Range (HDR) by combining three different exposures, and then incorporating the results into a digital painting.

The Showboat

The "Showboat" is really a house boat moored in Toledo, Oregon which is seven miles east of Newport on the Oregon Coast. She sits on the Yaquina River and is colorful to say the least.

Up close, it looks ship shape and ready to sail. Toledo...yes, named after Toledo, Ohio is a cool little mill town and major boat repair place. This image has been converted to a digital painting.

Dock Art

This cool wooden boat sits at a Yaquina River dock in Toledo, Oregon. Guessing it is a 1920's-30's style boat.

It looked to be pretty much restored. Toledo is seven miles inland from Newport on the Central Oregon Coast. Wooden boats, of any type seem to have that nostalgic look and feel whereas, everything in today's world is fiberglass.

1953 Chevy 3100 Pickup!

This cool 1953 Chevy 3100 Pickup was on display at a car show in Toledo, Oregon. Looks pretty stock from the outside.

However, there are a few exceptions to being stock, maybe the one piece windshield, the painted grill and custom wheels. But, who cares? It's one good looking pickup!

The paint is very nice and an outstanding color. From a little over the mid forties to mid fifties, Chevrolet trucks were the number one in sales in the United States.

You have to give credit to folks that buy these old nostalgic, classic trucks or cars and restore them. It is a lot of work, time and money!

1937 Ford

There is a certain charm to old, classic cars and, this 1937 Ford Cabriolet is no exception. It was featured at a car show in Toledo, Oregon which is seven miles from the Central Oregon Coast.

I don't know the history of this particular Ford. The owner was missing so I was unable to get any particulars.

I processed the image into High Dynamic Range Photography and then converted it to an Impressionist Painting (Digital Painting). The "Old Salt in" the background gave me permission.
