View From The Boardwalk

Not far from Newport on the Central Oregon Coast is Toledo, Oregon!  Yes! It is named after Toledo, Ohio.

You are looking at the Port of Toledo which is located on the Yaquina River. Fall is starting to inch itself in.

Toledo is a mill town, with a major paper mill and lumber mill. And, also major boat repair facilities.

Above all, it is a quaint little town. Not too popular because most of the tourist go to Newport which is only seven miles away on the coast.

But, the tourist that bi-pass Toledo are missing out on a very cool place to visit!

This image has been converted to High Dynamic Range (HDR) by combining three different exposures, and then incorporating the results into a digital painting.

Tractor Art

This old tractor sits abandoned on a tulip farm in Oregon. It used to be the main work horse on the farm but, not anymore!

It's been replaced by a younger fancier tractor to work the soil and plant the tulips. And then, there is this other cool "pink" tractor, out in the middle of the field that gets more attention photo wise whereas, this one gets neglected.

However, there is a nostalgic look to this old tractor that just had to be captured. This image has been converted to a digital painting!

The original color of the Foxgloves were a vibrant pink. The photo post processing brought out an even more vibrant color.

Foxgloves are perennial flowers/plants. They seem to grow heartier and heartier each year after they are planted. There are some twenty species of Foxgloves to enjoy!

Shore Acres Xmas Lights

One of a kind Christmas Greeting Cards of Shore Acres Park Lights on the Oregon Coast! (see below)

Shore Acres State Park is a very unusual state park south of Coos Bay on the Oregon Coast. Rather than just picnic benches and horseshoe pits, the Park has evolved into a "garden for all seasons"...a variety of beautiful plants and flowers that bloom according to the season.

And, this in itself is an excellent  reason to visit these gorgeous grounds. However, a fantastic tradition came about in 1987 when the Friends of Shore Acres Park strung a few lights in anticipation of the Christmas Holidays.

In its debut this drew some nine thousand folks to the park. Today, some 325,000 lights adore the landscape and draw some 50,000 visitors to these beautiful gardens during the holidays.

You can purchase these images in a variety of ways, wall art, life style, apparel, greeting cards, home decor, phone cases, beach. please see the link below this image and /or the slide shows below and, on the left side bar!

Pocket of Orange!

The "Pocket of Orange" come from the intense light that hitting the inner part (ovary) of the flower. Of course, this has been enhanced...some colors eliminated while other colors were enhanced.

The result is something a little abstract. However, we get down to the beauty of flowers and how they play a role in our lives.

If you would like to explore this image, or others, please see links below!

Impatiens

Impatiens are among the most beautiful flowers in the world!  They make for an outstanding border especially for Begonias.

They excel for shade gardens when you want vibrant color all season long. The plants bloom in just about every color.

You can grow them in containers or, in the ground. If conditions are right you can grow impatiens as an indoor plant.

The image has been converted to a digital painting that I hope you enjoy. It also has an abstract feel. If you would like to explore this image, or others, please see links below!

Florence Floral

More beautiful flowers than you can shake a stem at...floral on the banks of the Siuslaw River in Florence on the Oregon Coast!

This setting is next to a coffee shop in Old Town Florence. Unfortunately, the floral only lasts so long and I was able to capture it with a camera and preserve it for a while.

It's a fantastic view! Relax and let yourself go among the flowers and the river. If you would like to explore this image, or others, please see links below!

For The Love Of Hydrangeas

Spend some time with the flowers...spend some time with the hydrangeas and they will reward you with their beauty and tranquility! Purple, pink who cares?

They are all robust and beautiful! Take care of them and they will take care of you!

Hydrangea is native to parts of Asia and the Americas. There are around 75 different species.

The ideal soil type for these plants is loam which is two fifths part sand, two fifths part silt mixed in with a layer of clay.

I am including two versions of this beautiful Hydrangea below. The bottom image is included on beach towels, phone cases, greeting cards, tote bags, tee shirts and so on.

The image has been converted to a digital painting that I hope you enjoy. If you would like to explore this image, or others, please see links below!

Yellow Iris

Schreiner's Iris Gardens is located north of Salem, Oregon. It is one of the finest Iris growing farms in the country.

They feature hundreds of different varieties/colors of Irises. Their featured gardens which are kept in immaculate shape year around, Irises or no Irises, really come into fruition in the spring.

Of course, this is a yellow Iris...a bearded Iris but, don't confuse it with a yellow flag Iris that is an  invasive ornamental perennial that can be a real problem.

Field Of Tulips

One of the best tulip farms is in Woodburn, Oregon. It is the Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm and encompasses some forty acres of stunning and beautiful tulips.

They feature some 117 varieties of tulips. And, it seems that each tulip is a different color. Of course, that is an illusion.

What is not an illusion is this capture. It was made fairly close to the ground and it seems like there are tulips as far as the eye can see.

The image has been converted to a digital painting that I hope you enjoy. If you would like to explore this image, or others, please see links below!

The Flowers Along The Fence

Beautiful flowers and artichokes are placed playfully up against a rustic fence. Pick the artichokes and make a dip. Gather the flowers and make a bouquet!

The setting is on the Central Oregon Coast. Each year a flower and garden show is featured in different locations up and down the coast.

This particular show, where the below image was captured is just north of Waldport. It is called the Secret Garden Tour.

The event is a fundraiser for Samaritan House Homeless Family Shelter...the only homeless family shelter on the Central Oregon coast between Tillamook and Coos Bay. Their mission is an excellent one: to shelter, educate and guide homeless families with children toward independent living!

The image has been converted to a digital painting that I hope you enjoy. If you would like to explore this image, or others, please see links below!

Three Bells In The Garden

The "Three Bells In The Garden" setting is in Schreiner's Iris Gardens in Salem, Oregon. They are home to some of the beautiful Iris gardens in the world.

The trellis is an Oriental design. The three bells chime with the wind and gently sound solitude and peace. It won't be too long before clematis and/or beautiful climbing floral inhibit the trellis.

The very nature of this whole garden scene leaves a lot of room for meditative thought. The beautiful Irises, other flowers and plants embellish the scene.

The image has been converted to a digital painting that I hope you enjoy. If you would like to explore this image, or others, please see links below!

French Prairie Gardens

Out in the country, away from all the hustle and bustle is French Prairie Gardens.  It is just one nice place, located in St.Paul, Oregon...about 45 minutes south of Portland.

Basically, it's a nursery, farm and store that features fresh produce. They have all kinds of activities for the family year around. A must place to visit if you live in the area.

However, at this time of the year, summer, one can't help but notice all the beautiful hanging baskets and flower gardens that are displayed.

They have the biggest hanging baskets I have ever seen and they are reasonably priced. Did I say the ice cream they feature is good?  Enjoy the photos!

Neighborhood Flowers Two

A continuation of neighborhood flowers...just spending a Sunday morning wandering around Oregon City, Oregon photographing any plant, flower that's cool.

One of the most amazing photos I took is of a hydroponic flower garden display.  It's located on a huge outside wall, part of a once hydroponic shop, that use to teach the craft but, apparently no longer does.
