Wall Murals

Visiting the Newport, Oregon Historic Bayfront is a real treat. It has a lot of history dating back to the 1800's and, is home to Oregon's largest fishing fleet.

Although, the fishing industry dominates much of the Bayfront, there are all kinds of neat shops, restaurants and tourist attractions to enjoy. 

In this segment, however, I will be featuring photos of some of the cool and, numerous wall murals that are scattered throughout the Bayfront on the sides of buildings.

As far as I know, many of the murals displayed here are by artist Rick Chambers of Bend, Oregon. His murals and others are just phenomenal to say the least.

Some Art In Nye Beach

Nye Beach in Newport, Oregon is great spot to find some exceptional art...indoors, outdoors...you name it.

Before I moved to Newport I had no idea that there was such an artist community (primarily in Nye Beach) and that it encompasses many mediums. 

The first two photos are of a mural (photographed in two pieces) located on the Yaquina Art Gallery Building in Nye Beach.

OK! I take my camera and I walk around Nye Beach and photograph all the art I can find. Cool sculptures, mosaics whatever I can find.

One of the renowned spots in Nye Beach is the Sylvia Beach Hotel (link). I won't go into any vivid description of the hotel other than say that it features some twenty rooms named after prominent authors. A must place to visit and stay while in Newport.

They were kind enough to let me photograph some of the wall murals...one in the lobby and another in one of the rooms.

Astoria Oregon

Besides Bandon and Newport in Oregon...Astoria is a must place to go to on the Oregon Coast. Lots of things to see and do...tons of things to see and do.

Since this is a photo blog, we will just say: "One of the favorite things to do is walk done the waterfront boardwalk and take pictures!" And, after you walked the entire length, you can take a trolley back to where you started.

It stretches for miles and you can take in all the commercial freighters navigating the Columbia River as they sail in from the Pacific. Take in all the cool restaurants along the way, especially the " Baked Alaska"! And, take in some neat wall murals.

Wall Murals

One morning we took the time to walk around downtown Cottage Grove, Oregon and photograph as many wall murals as we could find. A super nice collection to choose from to say the least.

Cottage Grove has a cool and quaint downtown...lots of variety in the type of stores, nice stores that are unusual and wouldn't expect to find in a small town.

When you are tooling down I5 around Eugene you might want to think about stopping in. You won't be sorry you did! Did I mention all the covered bridges they have in the area?
