This Ford Hot Rod was sitting all by itself on a street in Oregon. I just got down on the knees and took the shot!

On the left side is a Cafe and on the right side is a courthouse...nobody is around. This is a vintage Ford Hot Rod just begging to be raced!

Three different exposures were taken of the Hot Rod and then combined and converted to High Dynamic Range Photography (HDR). I then converted the image to a digital painting!

Classic Flatbed Truck In Pink

This old and classic flatbed truck sits on a farm in Doyle, California...close to the Nevada border. It has seen its day but, eye catching and very colorful...IN PINK!

Somebody has gone to a lot of trouble to make this old truck a standout. Best it can be determined this is a circa 1948 White Truck.

Three different images were taken of this White Flatbed Truck and then combined in High Dynamic Range Photography (HDR) software to bring out the full dynamic range of the capture.

The White Motor Company was an automobile, truck, and bus manufacturer in Cleveland, Ohio, from 1900-1980.  If you would like to explore this image, or others, please see links below!

1947-49 Chevy Pickup

It is believed this is a circa 1947-49 Chevrolet Pickup. There were just subtle differences between years for this pickup.

When photographed, there were many parts missing on the truck. So, good-luck identifying the year!

This Chevy sat in a field in a rural Oregon setting. I mean "rural", and in a pasture with other cars and trucks that have seen their day.

You could drive by this field from week to week and never see the same car or truck twice. Don't ask me how this happens.

Three different exposures were made of the Chevy Pickup. They were then combined and converted into High Dynamic Range Photography (HDR).

Farm Tours - Tollen Farm Two

This is the second installment of the 8th Annual Spring Tour of "Favorite 5 Country Farms" featuring only the Tollen Farm in Wilsonville, Oregon. Here is post number one: Tollen Farm

This is a great event that takes place in Wilsonville, Tualatin and Sherwood, Oregon at various farms. The price of admission is a can of food that goes to the Food Bank.

The lamb pictured here cannot walk yet but they got her standing so she could pose for a photo.

Farm Tours - Tollen Farm

If you missed the 8th Annual Spring Tour of "Favorite 5 Country Farms" in Wilsonville, Tualatin and Sherwood, Oregon...well, you missed a lot of fun. The cost was a can of food for the Food Bank at each location...a very small admission price for a great cause.

My wife and I planned on attending at least four out of the five places on the tour. We never made it passed the Tollen Farm (link to their site) in Wilsonville. I believe we spent about two hours there and decided not to go anywhere else. It was that cool.

Of course, there were the animals... miniature donkeys, lambs, horses and so on. But, the big draw for us was the gift shop(s) and all the cool yard items sitting around all over the place...in a very, very nice setting.

We would highly recommend if you live in Oregon, or just visiting, like a lady from Mississippi we ran into was, get yourself there. And, you don't need a can of food to visit since they are usually open during the year.

Naturally, I had my Pentax camera with me and who could resist taking as many photos as possible throughout this super neat place.

Tillamook OR

From Lincoln City, on the Oregon Coast, my wife and I are on our way north to Tillamook...think cheese...think ice cream...think bunches of cows!

On the way to Tillamook, we stop in at Neskowin for lunch but, the place we want to eat at is closed. We then went further north to Pacific City and had pizza...real good pizza. I took one pouring down rain-in-your-face photo of the famous Haystack Rock (last shot here).

Pacific City is home of the famous "dory fleets" and some super great fishing in the Pacific Ocean and, the Nestucca Rivers...there are two: the Little and the Big Nestucca.

Finally, we are in Tillamook and the three pics of the river you see below are of the Wilson River... and, more good fishing.

This part of the river is next to a road in the country. I shot as I went along. One of the photos is of a "Quilt Barn"...fourth pic down. There are numerous such quilt barns in Tillamook. We will get into the quilting thing in a later post.

I converted all the photos here into HDR or High Dynamic Range Photography.

Lincoln City

If you have been reading my posts in the last couple days, we are on the Oregon Coast heading north from Depoe Bay (link) to Salishan (link). And, now we are in Lincoln City.

Lincoln City is really a culmination of six adjoining towns. It is a popular spot because of its proximity to Salem...and, I would guess: Tigard, Tualatin, McMinnville, Newberg, Beaverton and Portland, Oregon.

We stayed at the Shearwater Inn. It's is reasonably priced, well maintained and, they take puppy dogs...remember: "Dogs Rule!"

The hotel is right on the world shortest river (first photo)...the "D River". When I say it is short, it is "short"!

Among other things, the Shearwater brings a very nice and quality continental breakfast to your room, free of charge, plus, there is a free wine bar, hor dourves served in the evening for an hour. How cool is all of that?

Off to the right of D River is "Kylos's". We had lunch there one day. It's okay, but way overpriced...right on the beach...everything is a la carte...highlight it for the unsuspecting tourist.

Other than the Shearwater, we ate at three places in Lincoln City...the "60's Cafe" located in the "Lighthouse Square" in the north part of town, the "Dory Cove" and the "Deli 101" (will talk about this place in a later post).

The 60's Cafe is just that,  a throwback to the sixties...Hey, old fashioned creamy and thick milkshakes. Great hamburgers, hot dogs, fries and a well decorated, nostalgic atmosphere.

But, if you are looking for the best seafood in town, try the Dory Cove (link). It's kind of a hard place to find if your aren't familiar with the town and, getting in and out of the parking lot sucks but, the clam chowder is to die for...and, did I say it was "thick and creamy"!

We ordered the large bowl. OK! There is the cup, the bowl and then there is the "Large Bowl"! The latter is for "real boys and girls".

Salishan

Few folks know about this cool walking path in Gleneden, Oregon which starts at "The Shops at the Salishan Resort" and ends up at the Siletz Bay Spit (off to the right in the first photo).

Also, you can veer off to the left to get to the beach at the end of the trail. The Pacific Ocean is just a tad beyond the houses on the Spit.

The path follows the contour of  Siletz Bay, to the right, with the golf course off to the left. It's a well maintained path with a beautiful view. Puppy dogs love it!

Siletz Bay, the River, the Place is named after the Siletz Indians who are an Oregon Native American Tribe.

The Salishan Resort is located just a few miles south of Lincoln City. It was a super hot spot years ago for the affluent golfer, food and spa lover. That has calmed a bit. But, it is still a very nice place with quality shopping, vacationing and, of course golfing.

Depoe Bay OR

Depoe Bay, Oregon boasts the world's smallest harbor. They also they can boast about a very short haul to the Pacific Ocean if you are going fishing or whale watching off the coast.

My wife and I stayed at the "Harbor Lights Inn" (link) which overlooks the Depoe Bay Harbor and the boat basin.  The hotel and the service is exceptional and, we give it five stars.

It is more like a huge bed and breakfast since they feed you a gourmet breakfast in the morning. It's cozy, down home and cool!

I would rate it among one of the best little beach towns in Oregon. Although, you either have to go a tad north or, south if you want to walk or lay on a beach. It's a short haul to Newport and Lincoln City.

Oregon City Train Station in HDR Two

This is a small train station but, a real convenience if you want to take the Amtrak to Seattle or points south. There is adequate free parking and sort of a no hassle way to travel.
