1930 Ford V8 Model A Hot Rod

A  Model A Ford Convertible Hot Rod is in pristine condition.

Of course, many modifications have been made to it since it was originally manufactured but, all for the better!  You could have purchased this fine roadster for around $1400 in 1930. Today, that might get you the tires!

This capture was made at a very busy car show! Any photographer will tell you that is is very difficult to photograph at car shows because of people, and usually some type of signage.

To be blunt, I was lucky to get this shot!

Hot Rodders refer the to Model  As as A-Bones. The Model A was Ford's number two success after the previous Model T.

The logic is kind of funny here...Model A following Model T...maybe should have been a "B' rather than "T".

This image has been converted to High Dynamic Range (HDR) by combining three different exposures to give the image more detail and color.

Tin Lizzie

This is a 1926 Ford Model T Racer also known, as well as other Model T's as "Tin Lizzies"!  This Racer is a stock Model T with a lighter body shell and a souped up engine.

It could get up to 90 miles per hour! This particular Model T is typical of race cars of the 1920s. They were driven to and from the race track.

Most had no top or windshield as opposed to the image here.

This image has been converted to High Dynamic Range (HDR) by combining three different exposures, and then incorporating the results into a digital painting.

Hobo Junction (Link) "Hobo Junction" is on Long Beach, Peninsula in Washington State and features tons of nautical decor. And, probably more in one place than you will ever experience in other places like them combined!.

A Tree By The Sea (Link) This is a capture of an unusual tree located on a beach in Crescent City, California next to the Battery Point Light, which is a historic lighthouse and was one of the first lighthouses on the California coast. The wind from the Pacific Ocean has formed this tree into an abstract form. Because of the wind, the tree is growing in many directions and, doubling up into itself. Sometimes nature's art can be extremely well done and cannot be duplicated by anyone.
In The Fog (Link) Trinidad Head Lighthouse is located on the Northern California Coast...of course in the town of Trinidad! The capture was made on a rather foggy day. The original lighthouse was built in 1871 and, consisted of a small two-story light tower, a Victorian style residence, and a barn.
1912 Indian (Link)  This is a cool 1912, and classic Indian Motorcycle! They started manufacturing the bike back in 1901. Maybe you remember the movie "The World Fastest Indian" starring Anthony Hopkins. In the early 1900s the Indian Motorcycle was the largest produced motorcycle in the world.
Red Hot Ford (Link) This is just a beautiful circa 1934 Ford hot rod sitting on a side street in a town in Oregon! Actually, it might be more accurate to say an antique car that has been restored to original condition.
The "Aguero"  (Link) is a fishing vessel, located in Newport on the Oregon Coast. Aquero, in Spanish translates to "omen"!  One meaning is that it is a bad omen for fishermen to learn how to swim?? However, we can assume that the name "Aguero" on this vessel is intended to be a "good omen", whether you can swim or not!
Garden Fun (Link) The garden scene is located on a peony farm in Salem, Oregon. It is in the middle of a beautiful rural area surrounded by vegetable and other types of farms. Although peonies are the main growth many different types of flowers are intermingled.
Sidewalk Floral (Link) There is this cool little town in Oregon, not far from I5 and Eugene that is a must to visit. The name of the town is Brownsville. It is where the movie "Stand By Me" was filmed. It's a small town, settled in 1846. It is a place of beautiful  classic homes with old fashioned front porches and picket fences. The town also features unique and vintage storefronts.
Mater Look Alike (Link) This look alike appeared in a car show. Naturally, it was a hit! Pretty authentic-looking...bad paint job, eyes, buck teeth!
Tony's Crabshack (Link) Bandon,Oregon is home to Tony's Crabshack on the Oregon Coast! It's small, crowded and has seafood to die for! And, it is close to the Pacific Ocean and the beach! Tony's is the "beach"! This capture was made on a very early Sunday morning...no tourist around. The image was converted into High Dynamic Range Photography or, HDR. If you are looking for a great Seafood Cocktail, Tony's has great choices: Ocean Shrimp, Dungeness Crab, Oyster, Crab and Shrimp Combo and Wild Prawn. For soups they have fresh New England Style Clam Chowder or, Cioppino to die for. Of course, they have an array of delectable seafood salads. And, then there are the Seafood Pastas like: Smoked Salmon Alfredo, Scampi Montezuma and Steamer Clams or Prawns. It doesn't end here either there is also: Fish Tacos, Local Rock Cod, Corn Tortilla, Shredded Cabbage and Pico de Gallo, Steamer Clams, Whole Cooked Dungeness Crab, Cooked Maine Lobster, Dungeness Crab Cakes, Seafood Combos, Scampi, Grilled Sockeye Salmon and Grilled Pacific Halibut. Are you hungry yet!
Old 104 (Link) This old Number 104 steam engine locomotive sits on a track next to the waterfront park in Coos Bay, Oregon. It was decided to capture Old 104 in black and white as it brings out more contrast in the photo. It is a grand old locomotive ready to be cherished by all! A steam engine locomotive produces power through a steam engine. They are fueled by burning combustible material, typically coal, wood, or oil to produce steam in a boiler.
Old Rusty (Link) Just an old rusty Chevy pickup truck sitting out in a field, that nobody seems to care about! It has seen better days but, with a little bit of tender loving care could be like new! It is believed this is a circa 1947-49 Chevrolet Pickup. There were just subtle differences between years for this pickup. When photographed, there were many parts missing on the truck. So, good-luck identifying the year! Three different exposures were made of the Chevy Pickup. They were then combined and converted into High Dynamic Range Photography (HDR).

37 Ford Roadster Art

Put the top down and cruise the boulevard in this pristine 1937 Ford Convertible! When this automobile came out, you could have purchased it in the seven hundred dollar range.

Now days, if you wanted to purchase one this nice it would probably be in the seventy thousand dollar range! Anyway, you can get a print of this classic on my website a lot cheaper!

eBay Photo Gallery

Currently my photography is available on eBay at reasonable prices. Below they are all 8 1/2 x 10 inch Fine Art Prints available in a 11 x 14 inch Double Mats. Starting bid is $23 with a Buy It Now Price of $35.

The Meteor by Thom Zehrfeld

This is a old flatbed truck. It has seen better days
. It sits on a farm in Oregon. Most of it is rusted out, cracked and ready to bite the dust. However, there is a charm about it that can't be duplicated...that charm being an era that will never be again! It is a brand called "Meteor"! Mercury produced a "Meteor" but it sure doesn't look like this! This capture was made using three different exposures and combining the results into a High Dynamic Range Photograph (HDR). Each print is encased in a heavy double mat with a protective sleeve. Link is: Meteor

Coquille River Lighthouse by Thom Zehrfeld

The original name of the Coquille River Lighthouse in Bandon, Oregon was the Bandon Light" and  commissioned in 1895.
The lighthouse became active in 1896. The light helped boaters avoid dangerous sandbars in the Coquille River and led them safely into the harbor at Bandon. The light contained a fourth-order Fresnel lens. In 1936, a large fire swept through Bandon and destroyed much of the town. Bandon became bankrupt. There was a decline in shipping and, the lighthouse was shut down. It was replaced by an automated light on the south jetty. So basically, the Coquille River Lighthouse has not been an active lighthouse for decades! However, that doesn't mean it never gets visited or photographed. The setting is magnificent!  The Coquille River Lighthouse is located in Bandon, Oregon! This capture was made using three different exposures and combining the results into a High Dynamic Range Photograph (HDR). Each print is encased in a heavy double mat with a protective sleeve. Link is: Coquille River Lighthouse
Japanese Maple by Thom Zehrfeld

The Japanese Gardens in Portland, Oregon is one of the most authentic Japanese-style gardens outside of Japan.  The Gardens that comprise some five and half acres signify what a garden was meant to evoke in pre-modern Japan. This image displayed here is one of the most photographed Japanese Maples in the world and, one of the most beautiful trees in the world! It was captured late Fall on a very rainy, overcast day in the Japanese Gardens. It is a magnificent place to visit should you ever decide to come to Portland, Oregon (PDX). This capture was made using three different exposures and combining the results into a High Dynamic Range Photograph (HDR). Each print is encased in a heavy double mat with a protective sleeve.Link is: Japanese Maple At The Japaneses Gardens

Humpty Dumpty Hot Air Balloon by Thom Zehrfeld

The Humpty Dumpty Hot Air Balloon
was photographed at an annual hot air balloon festival in Tigard, Oregon. A gala three day event in late spring. Kids, adults just love to watch and ride in the colorful hot air balloons. The balloon is directly overhead and appears to be coming straight down on you! This capture was made using three different exposures and combining the results into a High Dynamic Range Photograph (HDR). Each print is encased in a heavy double mat with a protective sleeve.Link is: Humpty Dumpty Hot Air Balloon

The Pagoda by Thom Zehrfeld

This is the Pagoda at the Japanese Gardens in Portland, Oregon.
One of the most authentic and largest Japanese gardens outside of Japan! The Pagoda is not far from the entrance to the Gardens. It actually covers up an ugly fire hydrant since the City of Portland insists that they have them in case of an emergency...which makes a lot of sense in case of a fire. The cover up is an excellent idea since a hydrant just sitting out in those beautiful gardens would be a distraction. This capture was made using three different exposures and combining the results into a High Dynamic Range Photograph (HDR). Each print is encased in a heavy double mat with a protective sleeve. Link is: The Pagoda

1938 Ford Convertible by Thom Zehrfeld

A classic 1938 Ford Convertible!
A patriotic scene...not staged with the American Flag, proudly displayed on this old vintage car. Closer inspection of the Ford will yield a car for parts and not one that has been restored. The car has been sitting in a field for awhile with the top down and, in a rainy location that is not good!  This capture was made using three different exposures and combining the results into a High Dynamic Range Photograph (HDR).Link is: 1938 Ford

Let's Get Ready To Rumble!

This Ford Hot Rod was sitting all by itself on a street in Oregon. I just got down on the knees and took the shot!

On the left side is a Cafe and on the right side is a courthouse...nobody is around. This is a vintage Ford Hot Rod just begging to be raced!

Three different exposures were taken of the Hot Rod and then combined and converted to High Dynamic Range Photography (HDR). I then converted the image to a digital painting!

You can purchase this image in a variety of ways, wall art, life style, apparel, greeting cards, home decor, phone cases! Please see the link below this image!

Willys Overland

This is a 1916 Willys Overland Roadster...a highly modified Willys with a 350 Chevy Engine! This one has a cool yellow and red paint job.

Way back in 1908, a gentleman by the name of John Willys bought the Overland Automotive Division of Standard Wheel Company. In 1912, he renamed it Willys-Overland Motor Company.

For four years,1912 to 1918, Willys was the second-largest producer of automobiles in the United States behind Ford Motor Company. The recession in 1920 did not benefit the Willys Corporation and they struggled until around 1941 when they produced the famous World War 2 Jeep!

1937 Ford Panel

The following 1937 Ford Panel was captured at a car show in Oregon. There were many outstanding classic cars and trucks displayed at the show and this beautiful panel truck was one of them.

To really get the full effect you have to see a panel like this in person. Many, old cars and trucks start out as real projects and take a lot of blood, sweat, tears and money to complete.

The 1937 Ford, both car and truck, featured a more rounded look than what Ford had previously been producing. The front grille was V-shaped and didn't a pentagon shape, as on the 1936 model.

The image has been converted to a digital painting that I hope you enjoy. If you would like to explore this image, or others, please see links below!

1957 Ford Thunderbird

The early Ford Thunderbirds (T Birds) will always be known as timeless classics and are highly sought after.

The 1957, as shown here featured more trunk space than the original 1955, which was a common complaint with earlier owners. The '57 is considered to be the most desirable of the early T Birds.

I captured this image in Carson City, Nevada at a car show which was right next to the Nevada State Capital Building.

The image has been converted to a digital painting that I hope you enjoy. If you would like to explore this image, or others, please see links below!

1929 Model A Ford Hot Rod

The Ford Model A, along with other models, were produced from 1928 to 1931. It followed the highly successful Model T which was in production for some eighteen years.

They sold for $385!  Wouldn't it be nice to purchase a brand new car, today for $385?

Between Model Ts and "As", many subsequent purchasers of these great and classic cars have converted them into hot rods. Some bought them in deplorable condition and restored them to perfection.

This Model A Ford Roadster hot rod is a good example of a restored "A". It has beautiful turquoise paint with gold, yellow, white detail.

The image has been converted to a digital painting that I hope you enjoy. If you would like to explore this image, or others, please see links below!

1931 Model A Ford

To me anyway, it never made sense why Model A's followed Model T's..."A" is the first letter of the alphabet.  But with heated competition from GM, Henry couldn't sit on his laurels...he had to make some improvements over the Model T real fast or, lose his place in the industry. So came the "A"!

One of the biggest improvement over the T was an electric starter. You didn't have to get out there in the rain and crank anymore. However, there were a lot more things done other than a electric starter.

One of my passions is old, classic cars and this car brings on that passion! I hope you are passionate about nostalgic cars, also!

This is one cool old car. Although, I don't think Henry envisioned the tires or, front suspension depicted here.

I captured this Model A Ford at a car show in Newport, Oregon and converted it to High Dynamic Range Photography (HDR). Newport doesn't have a ton of classic automobiles hanging around town however, the surrounding areas like Florence, which is fifty miles south on the Oregon Coast does.

If you would like to explore this image, or others, please see link below image!

1947 Ford Club Coupe

This 1947 Ford Club was featured at a car show in Newport, Oregon. Actually, this model Ford is an  aborted 1942 model because of the Second World War.

Further, the 1947 model was identical to the 1946 except Ford then restyled the body slightly first by moving the parking lights from above the grill to below each headlight. However, this is not reflected in the image here.

That could be because, in the first weeks of the 47's production the car was the same as the 1946. As the 47 progressed, exterior moldings were changed from grooved to a smooth design.

They received a new hood ornament. A new hubcap design became available. The interior dash color was changed from red accent to gold.

The image has been converted to a digital Impressionist painting that I hope you enjoy. If you would like to explore this image, or others, please see link below image!

1937 Ford

There is a certain charm to old, classic cars and, this 1937 Ford Cabriolet is no exception. It was featured at a car show in Toledo, Oregon which is seven miles from the Central Oregon Coast.

I don't know the history of this particular Ford. The owner was missing so I was unable to get any particulars.

I processed the image into High Dynamic Range Photography and then converted it to an Impressionist Painting (Digital Painting). The "Old Salt in" the background gave me permission.

1956 Ford Panel

This is a gorgeous 1956 Ford Panel Truck featured at a car show in Toledo, Oregon. The folks that own it are in the trucking business in another town in Oregon.

It is a 56 panel that has been rebuilt to perfection and looked very well taken care of. The paint is very nice with no noticeable dent marks after all these years.

Lately, besides attempting to make good looking photos, I have taken many of my images and converted them to Impressionist Paintings (digital paintings).

I hope you like the look!
