Blue Bench In The Garden

Sit back and relax in this beautiful garden. Sit on the "Blue Bench" and take in the gorgeous flowers that are in full bloom or, starting to bloom like the Irises in the foreground!

The setting is Shreiners Iris Gardens in Salem, Oregon. It is one of the best or the best Iris gardens in the world!

Little Red Boat!

Newport, Oregon is home to the largest fishing fleet on the Oregon Coast. A fairly easy bar to cross, plus, crabbing and the fishing are among the most plentiful on the coast.

The "Little Red Boat" stood out at the Pier because of its bright red paint. And, it was one of the smallest boats at the dock.

I added texture to give it a painting-like effect.

Bay Views

A view from a working sailboat, across Yaquina Bay to the Newport, Oregon Coast Guard Station. And, the west part of the Historic Bayfront.

Newport boasts the largest fishing fleet in Oregon. Newport is on the Central Oregon Coast. Catch this nostalgic seascape!

Beach Treasures

The beaches on the Oregon Coast hold many treasures! The image below is not a sea shell or, an agate or, Japanese Float.

It is an art piece someone made out of various pieces of glass and planted on the beach in Yachats, Oregon. It is situated on the 804 Trail (part of the Oregon Coast Trail) that parallels the Pacific Ocean. A cool trail that is a beautiful two and a half mile round trip with rocky outcropping and waves that shoot fifty feet into the air when they hit the rocks.

Check out the swimming dolphin, in what looks to be an old fashioned candy jar and, the two wrist bands at the top. One with "Faith" written on it.

For The Love Of Hydrangeas

Spend some time with the flowers...spend some time with the hydrangeas and they will reward you with their beauty and tranquility! Purple, pink who cares?

They are all robust and beautiful! Take care of them and they will take care of you!

Hydrangea is native to parts of Asia and the Americas. There are around 75 different species.

The ideal soil type for these plants is loam which is two fifths part sand, two fifths part silt mixed in with a layer of clay.

I am including two versions of this beautiful Hydrangea below. The bottom image is included on beach towels, phone cases, greeting cards, tote bags, tee shirts and so on.

Neon Lighthouse Art

I love experimenting with my photography and post production techniques. Sure, everybody has access to some type of camera and can take fairly decent pictures however, separating yourself and your images from the crowd's can take a lot more effort.

This is the Cape Meares Lighthouse on the Oregon Coast. It is located seven miles, due west of Tillamook...the "Land of Happy, Happy Cows" and some very good cheese!

At 28 feet tall, it is Oregon's shortest lighthouse. It is some 200 feet above the Pacific Ocean and can be seen for miles out at sea.

The impression is: this capture was made at night. No, it was made in broad daylight.

Through special software the image was converted into a neon presentation and then converted to a digital painting. If you would like to explore this image, or others, please see links below!

Thee Old Dragger Boat

Toledo, Oregon is the home to this cool old Dragger Boat. Most folks know them as trawlers, as in fishing trawlers.

Either term is just fine! By the looks of it, it is a retired Dragger.

The boat has obviously been reconditioned...nice white paint and the mahogany trim refurbished. And, some up-to-date electronics look to have been added.

Toledo is seven miles inland from Newport on the Oregon Coast. They share the same river, the Yaquina.

As you take the Old Bay Road from Newport to Toledo, you run across these docks that these cool old boats are moored at.

Old Wheeler Hotel

This is the "Old Wheeler Hotel" in Wheeler on the Oregon Coast. It is a cool and nostalgic hotel built in 1920.

It is a restored historic inn that is right across the street, and has a view, of Nehalem Bay. That in itself is worth the price of admission.

The Wheeler Hotel has just eight rooms but, they are filled with cool antiques. In the 1940's the hotel was under different ownership. It was actually operating as a facility for the treatment of arthritis.

Well, that's changed. In the 90's, a couple just passing through Wheeler ended up buying the hotel and refurbishing it into a charmer. However, the hotel was sold again in 2009 and they continued to refurbish the hotel.
