The "Showboat" is really a house boat moored in Toledo, Oregon which is seven miles east of Newport on the Oregon Coast. She sits on the Yaquina River and is colorful to say the least.

Up close, it looks ship shape and ready to sail. Toledo...yes, named after Toledo, Ohio is a cool little mill town and major boat repair place. This image has been converted to a digital painting.

Foxglove Wall Art

These particular Foxgloves came right out of our garden. And, they were very inspiration in creating this art.

The original color of the Foxgloves were a vibrant pink. The photo post processing brought out an even more vibrant color.

Foxgloves are perennial flowers/plants. They seem to grow heartier and heartier each year after they are planted. There are some twenty species of Foxgloves to enjoy!

Hiding In The Garden Wall Art

This is a colorful and beautiful setting is in Schreiner's Iris Gardens, located in Salem, Oregon. One of the best Iris farms in the country!

You are invited to sit on the green bench and hide among the Irises, a "garden of tranquility". No one is going to know you are there but you!

Close you eyes, stretch your legs out, smell the flowers and, take in what life is all about!

This image has been converted to a digital painting!

Bay Front Wall Art

Newport on the the Oregon Coast is home to the Bay Street Pier on the Historic Bayfront! An area of cool shops, restaurants and bunches of noisy Sea Lions.

It is located right on Yaquina Bay with the Yaquina Bay Bridge in the background. During the summer months Newport's population triples because of the tourist attractions along the Historic Bayfront.

1925 Autocar Truck

Originally the company was the "Pittsburgh Motor Vehicle Company". They renamed the outfit in 1899 to the Autocar Company.

Some years later the  company decided to manufacture commercial vehicles only. Autocar is the oldest surviving motor vehicle brand in the Western Hemisphere.

In 1953 they sold the company to White Motor Company. However, in later years were related to the Volvo and GMC brands. This image has been converted to a digital painting.

For The Love Of Hydrangeas

Spend some time with the flowers...spend some time with the hydrangeas and they will reward you with their beauty and tranquility! Purple, pink who cares?

They are all robust and beautiful! Take care of them and they will take care of you!

Hydrangea is native to parts of Asia and the Americas. There are around 75 different species.

The ideal soil type for these plants is loam which is two fifths part sand, two fifths part silt mixed in with a layer of clay.

I am including two versions of this beautiful Hydrangea below. The bottom image is included on beach towels, phone cases, greeting cards, tote bags, tee shirts and so on.

The image has been converted to a digital painting that I hope you enjoy. If you would like to explore this image, or others, please see links below!

Best Oregon Beach Towns

If I had to pick the best beach town in Oregon, I would go with Bandon.  Why?

If you decide to take a stroll on the beach, you're lucky to see one other person.  The town has no ferris wheels, bumper cars or noisy arcades.  No large shopping malls. The place is quiet!

Some of the best fishing and crabbing on the Coast.  Really cool gift shops, and did I mention Cranberry candy?  One of the best boardwalks seen anywhere.

World-class golf courses! Some of the best seafood on the Coast...you're looking at one of the best places (Tony's Crabshack) to go in the first photo here.

All the photos here were taken very early in the morning...it was dark out!

Bandon - Beach Towns At Night

The post on Bandon, Oregon early on was Bandon in the wee hours of the morning.  It may not look like it in some cases, but the following photos are Bandon from about 9:30 until 11 pm at night.

Bandon is not a party town and that is just fine with me.  Except for a couple of Pubs, things slow down to dead.

I included a photo of part of the Boardwalk which I think rivals any boardwalk anywhere.  I oversaturated the shot because it accented the Seahorse...and the art that is attached to the railing, with the latter done by school age children.

The first photo here is a first-class covered, glassed-in picnic area on the Boardwalk.  The second, an upstairs restaurant. The third, a mall and eating place and the fourth a sport fishing place.

Some Beach Scenes Around Bandon

Oregon has beautiful beaches.  Most are pristine and sometimes you will find that you are the only one on one.

This can be confirmed should you ever venture to this great State and travel the coastline from Astoria to Brookings.

I am posting a few beach scenes here so you get the idea.  All photos were taken in or around Bandon on different days and times.

The second photo is very dark.  That's because that shot was taken in a bit of a squall...sunset and all.

Some beach scenes for your enjoyment!
