Train Depot Art

This is a cool little railroad station in Garibaldi, Oregon on the Northern Oregon Coast.

The railroad station is one of the stops for the "Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad". Other stops include:  Tillamook, Rockaway Beach, Wheeler, Nehalem Bay, and Salmonberry, Oregon.

During the late spring and summer months you can ride the rail behind a historic, nostalgic, old-fashioned Steam Locomotive. This scenic trip chugs along Tillamook Bay and gives you a nice view of the Bay and the ocean.

Crab Trap Art

This nostalgic fishing boat is getting ready to go out into the Pacific and catch some Dungeness Crab! The crab rings (traps) are sitting out on the deck.

They are ready to be thrown overboard, once they are out in the ocean and, have found the right place to catch crab...usually close to shore.

The Crabbers use fish carcasses to lure crabs into the traps. Dungeness Crab is one of the best eating in the world.

The setting is in Newport on the Central Oregon Coast. This image has been converted to a digital painting.

Cool Automotive Art

This classic roadster, aptly named the "Red Bell" was featured at a car show in Newport, Oregon. It is an absolutely gorgeous car.

Automobiles like this are from another time, that sadly we will never see again! So, dream a little and motor on down the road in the "Red Bell"!

This image was converted into an Impressionist painting!

Floral Art

The English Rose is one of the most vibrant flowers in the world...full of life...full of color! And, they flourish beautifully where I live in the Pacific Northwest!

Another name for the English Rose is the Austin rose or, David Austin. They were introduced by him in 1969. His goal was to create rose bushes that would combine the best properties of the old roses, introduced before 1867, and  modern roses, such as Grandifloras.

To accomplish this, Austin crossed the old roses with some of the modern roses to gain a repeat flowering rose bush that also retained the wonderful strong fragrances of the old roses.

Pullman Car Art

Virginia City, Nevada is home to this elegant Pullman Car. It sits out below the main street of town.

There is also a small collection of cabooses, on display along with this Car. The door on the back says "Private". Just a guess, but maybe it belonged to a railroad magnate at one time.

"Pullman Cars" are railroad sleeping cars and, are named after George Pullman who founded the company that built them, starting in the eighteen hundreds.

Tractor Art

This old tractor sits abandoned on a tulip farm in Oregon. It used to be the main work horse on the farm but, not anymore!

It's been replaced by a younger fancier tractor to work the soil and plant the tulips. And then, there is this other cool "pink" tractor, out in the middle of the field that gets more attention photo wise whereas, this one gets neglected.

However, there is a nostalgic look to this old tractor that just had to be captured. This image has been converted to a digital painting!

Depoe Bay Art

This beautiful scene is of Arch Rock in Depoe Bay, Oregon. It is an extreme high tide!

Arch Rock is an outcropping on the left. Depoe Bay is a landmark on the Oregon Coast. It boosts the smallest port of anywhere in Oregon.

Yes, movies have been shot in Depoe Bay...the fishing trip sequence in "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" was filmed in Depoe Bay. In 2008,  restaurant scenes from "The Burning Plain" was filmed, actually on the same  balcony of the restaurant where this photo was taken.

Port Art

"Buy Your Crab Here!"  Chances are the fishing/crab boats are just returning after a night's fishing and crabbing off the Oregon Coast.

The scene is Dock 5 in Yaquina Bay, located in Newport on the Oregon Coast. Newport has the largest fishing fleet in Oregon.

Plenty of room to moor and, a rather safe bar to cross into the Pacific Ocean makes fishing and crabbing more feasible than many other locations on the Oregon Coast.

This capture has been converted to digital paintography!

Wild Rose Art

The bank along the Yaquina Bay in Newport, Oregon is lined with gorgeous wild roses in the springtime. In the background, there is a combination of pleasure boats and fishing boats and, the beautiful Yaquina Bay Bridge.

Off to the right, are some fishermen headed for the Pacific Ocean to try and catch a halibut. The day is overcast and it is about ready to pour.

I converted the capture to High Dynamic Range Photography (HDR) and then applied a special texture called "Image Luminance". It really added a "pop" to the rose bushes.

What is so special is the combination of a nautical scene with a floral scene!

Boardwalk Art

The scene is Bandon, Oregon...very early morning and, it is dark out!  The Coquille River is at low tide and the boat ramp, off to the right, unusable.

The cool boardwalk is an outdoor art gallery with a unique, beautiful collection of  marine life wooden sculptures, a mosaic outdoor amphitheater and, cool artisan benches along the way.

Also, on the boardwalk, is Tony's Crab Shack. It is the blue and reddish colored building with some of the best seafood on the Oregon Coast...think Dungeness Crab!

Almost in the center of this image, is a glass-sided picnic shelter allowing picnicking and river viewing during downpours. Beyond is the Pacific Ocean. It's not too far away!

Boardwalk Art (LINK) This is a continuation of the boardwalk along the waterfront in Bandon. This capture was also made at first dawn. You can't see the Pacific Ocean in the background but, you can see the light on the horizon. Also, off to the right you can see the Coquille River Lighthouse. There is no breeze, so Old Glory is not flying. Take a look at the wonderful curves in the walkway along the marina. Bandon has a small marina and there are not too many fishing boats moored there. However, Bandon is an excellent place to go out of to fish in the ocean. The two near buildings are a restaurant to your left and the smaller building is a fishing charter service.

Seafood Restaurant Art

"Ocean Bleu At Gino's" is located on the Historic Bayfront in Newport on the Oregon Coast. It is a combo restaurant and seafood market.

It is a colorful place to say the least with all the buoys, signs and flags. In short, it's a beachy place!

And, features great seafood. The place is what the beach is all about!

Gino's was captured just at the end of "Blue Hour". The image was converted into a digital Impressionist painting.

Mall Art

The Old Town Mall is located in Bandon, Oregon on the Southern Oregon Coast. It is twenty miles south of Coos Bay.

This capture was made on a Sunday morning when nobody was around. The sun is starting to rise.

The formation of the clouds in the sky and, the sunlight are giving the sky a real different and interesting look. Bandon is one of the neater beach towns on the Oregon Coast.

It has great shopping and restaurants. It has a charm of its own and, lacks the "carnival" atmosphere that some other beach towns have.

Fishing Fleet Art

The "Little J" is a member of one of the largest fishing fleet in Oregon. She is based in Newport on the Central Oregon Coast.

The morning light is perfect! The Little J is sort of all by herself and, of course cool reflections coming off of her.

In the background is Yaquina Bay and the Bay Bridge. The Coast Guard Station is off to the right, closest to the bridge.

Bay Street Art

It's early in the morning and the shops, galleries and restaurants are not quite open yet on the Bay Front in Newport, Oregon on the Central Oregon Coast.

It has rained the night before and the street hasn't quite tried out yet.

The scene is tranquil this early in the morning but, that will change because spring break has just sprung and there will be a multitude of tourist ready to invade the Bay Front in a matter of a couple of hours.

The setting is Yaquina Bay in Newport on the Central Oregon. Five dinghies are ready to be rented in this tranquil scene. Well, maybe four!
