Bandon Beach Boardwalk

This is just part of the magnificent boardwalk in Bandon, Oregon. It is nestled next to the Coquille River on the Southern Oregon Coast and, very close to the beach and Pacific Ocean.

The capture was made early on a Sunday morning...no one is up and about! The boardwalk is actually an impressive outside art gallery with masterful wood carvings.

There are many arty type benches on the boardwalk. They are no more than 50 steps from one to another. Very unique in itself!

There are a number of outstanding wooden sculptures. For example, there are: Dolphin, Crab, Octopus, Seal, Sea Horse, Totem Pole and Orca wood sculptures.

You can find them scattered along this riverside promenade. To the right,  in the photo is a beautiful glass-sided picnic shelter with a wonderful view of the Coquille River and surrounding areas.

Yaquina Head Lighthouse

The Yaquina Head Lighthouse is one of the most popular lighthouses on the Oregon Coast. It is located at the north end of Newport and jets out about a mile from the main shoreline.

It can easily be seen from out at sea. It actually replaced a lighthouse that is only three miles away. Recently, it received a well deserved paint job.

Yaquina Head Light was first lit August 20, 1873, and automated in 1966. It is ninety three feet tall and is the tallest lighthouse in Oregon.

The lighthouse has even been in the movies: A setting for the "Moesko Island Lighthouse" in the 2002 film "The Ring"! It appeared in a 1983 movie "Hysterical" and, in "The Nancy Drew Mysteries"...the  episode "The Mystery of Pirate's Cove".

The lighthouse sits on some 100 acres and, includes The Yaquina Head Interpretive Center which opened in 1997.  Exhibits include the history and preservation of the lighthouse, and the marine life found in tide pools. The Center includes an excellent gift shop operated by "Friends Of Yaquina Lighthouses".

Barnacle Art

The scene is Seal Rock Beach is on the Central Oregon Coast...10 miles south of Newport. It is one of the most beautiful beaches in Oregon with numerous tide pools to investigate!

Seal Rock Beach has large off-shore rock formations where you can observe seal, sea lion, sea birds, and other marine life. It also provides excellent ocean views and a sandy beach.

This particular rock in the foreground is chuck full of barnacles. This image has been converted to digital paintography.

Depoe Bay Art

This beautiful scene is of Arch Rock in Depoe Bay, Oregon. It is an extreme high tide!

Arch Rock is an outcropping on the left. Depoe Bay is a landmark on the Oregon Coast. It boosts the smallest port of anywhere in Oregon.

Yes, movies have been shot in Depoe Bay...the fishing trip sequence in "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" was filmed in Depoe Bay. In 2008,  restaurant scenes from "The Burning Plain" was filmed, actually on the same  balcony of the restaurant where this photo was taken.

Bandon,Oregon is home to Tony's Crabshack on the Oregon Coast! It's small, crowded and has seafood to die for! And, it is close to the Pacific Ocean and the beach! Tony's is the "beach"!

This capture was made on a very early Sunday morning...no tourist around. The image was converted into High Dynamic Range Photography or, HDR.

If you are looking for a great Seafood Cocktail, Tony's has great choices: Ocean Shrimp, Dungeness Crab, Oyster, Crab and Shrimp Combo and Wild Prawn. For soups they have fresh New England Style Clam Chowder or, Cioppino to die for.

Of course, they have an array of delectable seafood salads. And, then there are the Seafood Pastas like: Smoked Salmon Alfredo, Scampi Montezuma and Steamer Clams or Prawns. However, it doesn't end there!

Gettin' Ready To Windsurf Art!

If you are not familiar with windsurfing, let's get the definition out of the way..."Windsurfing is a surface water sport that combines elements of surfing, like in the ocean and sailing, like on a sailboat."

One of the top spots for the sport is Hood River, Oregon. Everything is kind of right about this gorgeous spot on the Columbia River.

In order to qualify as a cool place to partake in windsurfing, you need lots of wind and consistent wind. Hood River qualifies hands down for both!

The image has been converted to a digital painting that I hope you enjoy. If you would like to explore this image, or others, please see links below!

Big Ocean Waves In Depoe Bay

Depoe Bay, Oregon is a super great place to observe ocean waves. Especially, when there is exceptional high tides or rough weather.

Folks come from all over the world to observe the wave action in Depoe Bay. There is an excellent seawall and, observation tower, to not only watch the waves but, also to whale watch. You can see for miles out into the Pacific!

In the middle of the first photo you can see a small cape. Armed with my camera I ventured out as far as I could and took a few shots.

Cool Beach Towns in Oregon

Just another photo taken at one of Oregon's cooler beaches...Seaside. This is taken from the turnaround on Broadway.  The main drag in Seaside.

The statues of Lewis and Clark lead the way and are back lite.  Too bad there had to be a truck parked in the street.

Cool Beaches In Oregon 3

This is a big, big guess: Seaside, Oregon is the most popular beach town in Oregon!  Clarify time: it's a short drive from Beaverton and Portland which are both heavily populated, well, as compared to Pudukie, Oregon..population 2.

However, the bottom line is: It's a really cool place to visit and there is lots to see...cool places to eat....and, Seaside has all their seagulls lined up in a row...being a super nice clean place to spend some time at!

I won't even get into the superb Cajun restaurant that you may have to GPS to find.  But, find it!

Hey! This is an off Broadway shot, literally! Broadway is the main drag in Seaside. It's so early in the morning the seagulls are still asleep and not lined up like they should be. Geez!

Cool Beaches In Oregon

One of the coolest beaches in Oregon is Bandon Beach, which is about twenty miles south of Coos Bay.

It features Oregon's Islands which, while small, are very numerous and feature abundant bird and sea life. This is a shot taken in High Dynamic Range Photography (HDR) and is looking down the steep stairway to the beach.
