Cape Foulweather

Cape Foulweather (founded and named by Captain Cook in 1778 for having, guess what, foul ______?) It is some five hundred feet above the Pacific Ocean and is located between Depoe Bay and Newport, Oregon on the Coast.

The first two photos here are of the gift shop at the Cape, that doubles as a lookout (complete with free binoculars to use) to view the coastline, ocean to the west and to the north. You can see for miles and miles.

The third photo is looking north and the fourth photo is looking south toward Otter Crest and Newport.

The gift shop is currently run by the State of Oregon Parks system and is manned by volunteers...real nice folks. It is a must place to visit when you are in Oregon...the view is magnificent!

Nye Beach

The Nye Beach District in Newport, Oregon is about one of the nicest beach communities going. It's small and it consists of tremendous people, restaurants and shops...and, a beach that won't wait!

Basically, it's the tourist center of Newport. However, the rain and poor weather keeps the population well below the million mark which, if that happened, would bring chaos to this great community...the ruination of a perfect beach and place. So keep up the poor weather.

The photos here are random and are not really showing "the meat" of the community.  I'm just walking around taking pictures.

Best Beaches

The Nye Beach District in Newport, Oregon is a must place to visit when you come to the Central Oregon Coast. They possess one of the best, most pristine and accessible beaches on the coast not to mention a lot of cool shops, accommodations and restaurants.

Whatever you do, make sure you take a lot of strolls on the beach...you can walk for miles and miles.

Newport Mooring

Some random photos of the boat basin, located in South Beach... Newport, Oregon. The Yaquina Bay Bridge is in the background and is one of the most beautiful bridges in Oregon.

Also, it's "A Foggy Day in Newport Town"!

The Rogue Brewery is located in South Beach and is the building off to your left in the first photo. At some later date, I will feature the brewery on my blog...it's cool!

The second photo is the Newport Belle Bed and Breakfast. Currently closed during December and January.

More shots of the Marina and then a couple of shots of the "House of Spirits". A Rogue owned bar that is separate of the main brewery and has a gorgeous view of the bay.

Things To Do In Newport Oregon | Nye Beach

I have been absent from my blog for awhile. Made a big change..."moved my cheese" from Oregon City to Newport, Oregon on the Oregon Coast.

A whole new world of photography has opened up for me and I will start out my posting some very early morning shots of Nye Beach in Newport. A cool, chic neighborhood and must place to visit if you come to the Oregon Coast.

The first two shots are of Nana's Irish Pub. And, not just any old pub. Great atmosphere...the food is super...try the meatloaf or, the cornbeef and cabbage...outstanding!

Following is the famous "Chowder Bowl"...more awards for their Clam Chowder than you can shake a stick at. And, and they have a Chili Burger that is to die for!
